What to write about
- Data corrections - a rate or indicator that looks wrong. Include the date, the currency pair, and the value you saw so it can be traced against the source.
- Bugs - a chart that will not load, a broken conversion, a layout problem. Mentioning your browser and device helps.
- Feature requests - an additional currency, indicator, or time range you would use.
- Translations - the site is available in English, Hungarian, Korean, and German. Corrections to any of them are welcome.
Frequently asked questions
How often is the data updated?
Exchange rates come from the European Central Bank, which publishes reference rates on TARGET business days. The site reads them live on each visit, so what you see is the most recent ECB publication rather than a stored snapshot.
Where does the data come from?
Exchange rates come from the ECB via the Frankfurter API, and the eight economic indicators come from Eurostat. Nothing on the site is estimated or modelled beyond the index formula itself, which is documented on the methodology page.
How is the index calculated?
It is a weighted basket of six currencies - EUR 50%, USD 20%, CHF 10%, GBP 10%, PLN 5%, CZK 5% - indexed to 4 January 1999 = 100. The full formula and the reasoning behind the weights are on the methodology page.
Can I reuse the numbers?
The underlying data belongs to the ECB and Eurostat and is subject to their terms, so check those first. For questions about the index values themselves, write via the form above.
About this site
HUF-Index.com is an independent, non-commercial project built and maintained by Seunghwan Yun. It carries no advertising, requires no login, and sells no data. It is a reference tool for tracking the Forint, not financial advice - nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell any currency.
